Overview

Support the Department of State’s Payroll with other supporting and related applications. Responsible for the programming of a large mainframe payroll system. Be part of the Programming and Design team tasked with translating software requirements into design specification and/or coding the new requirements.Need to have working knowledge of COBOL.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a full software engineering life cycle support for large-scale enterprise computer system
  • Design, test, document, train, implement, and support user services
  • Help formulate system plans, strategies, and approaches to best operate, maintain, and eventually transition to new

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor Degree or compatible experience and Certification + 10 years of experience
  • Required Knowledge/Experience:
    • IBM Common Business Oriented language (Cobol programming)
    • MVS Job Control language (JCL)
    • Interactive System Productivity Facility/Program Development Facility (ISPF/PDF)
    • IBM Virtual Storage Access Method (VSAM)
    • Experience with Configuration and Life Cycle Management
  • Preferred Knowledge/Experience:
    • Web Services experience
    • Strong written and verbal communication
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Capability to work in a team environment, as well as independently
    • Experience with CICS On-line COBOL Programming Tool

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of the department/contract
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager
