  • Overview

    Responsible for creation and execution of Moss Cape project estimates in addition to business development functions, pre-construction services, and project execution. Be an integral part of the Moss Cape Construction Team.


    • Actively market and seek construction and construction related opportunities in the DC metropolitan geographic area in addition to strategic CONUS areas
    • Estimate both concept and complete design on multi-disciplined and diverse projects
    • Develop and lead the growth of an estimating and preconstruction team
    • Provide pre-construction services to ensure client’s needs are met as project development take place
    • Support project teams with scope development, bid requirements, schedule of values and contract language
    • Participate in design reviews and value engineering exercises to efficiently and effectively deliver projects
    • Lead negotiations with clients and subcontractors to settle costs
    • Support project teams as needed to provide accurate and timely during project execution
    • Identify risk issues and their order of magnitude
    • Reviews constructability issues and provides alternative means and methods to resolve issues
    • Prepares cost coded budgets for each project awarded
    • Provide construction management expertise as needed to execute existing and new opportunities /projects


    • Education:
      • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction related field
    • Required Knowledge/Experience:
      • 20-25 years of construction and estimating experience
      • Ability to read and interpret complex construction bid documents
      • 20-25 years of diverse experience in construction management with significant estimating experience on both small and large multifaceted projects
      • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
      • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with clients, architects and subcontractors
      • Experience leading and developing others with a team approach
      • Self-motivated and efficient time management skills
      • Ability to undertake tight deadlines and schedule
      • Ability to develop detailed line item estimates using established estimating database
      • Experience utilizing existing estimating software to develop comprehensive estimates
      • Possess a thorough knowledge of CSI divisions
      • Experience in construction projects throughout the country
      • Ability to develop detailed scopes for subcontractor buyout
      • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations
      • Possesses strong mathematical and computer skills
      • Proficient with MS Office products
      • Valid Driver’s License and the ability to obtain a passport if one is not currently held
    • Preferred Knowledge/Experience:
      • Society of Cost Estimating and Analysis Certificate (desired but not mandatory)

    Other Responsibilities

    • Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of the department/contract
    • Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Construction Services
