  • Overview

    Be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance and support of the customer’s growing network infrastructure and engineering team. Be a technical leader for a team that is responsible for designing and developing a scalable, maintainable, highly available network that meets department objectives and mission.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead a technical team of engineers in meeting department goals
    • Maximize network performance by implementing effective monitoring; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades and recommending changes for network optimization
    • Manage network capacity and auditing of IP addressing and design within the network
    • Ensure a highly-available network environment by designing and directing optimal equipment configurations, along with defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards
    • Secure network against threats by establishing and enforcing policies, performing penetration testing, and proactively defining and monitoring access controls
    • Author documents such as operating procedures and work orders for scheduled maintenance
    • Collaborate with project management teams and service desk engineers on a regular basis to assist in installing new customers and handling operational issues
    • Interface with building owner and business customers as needed, ensuring that Service Level Agreements ("SLA") notification and resolution requirements are met and exceeded

    Qualifications

    • Education:
      • Degree in IT, Business, or Management
      • 15+ years of broad/diverse background and experience in business analysis, functional requirements management, IT systems test and evaluation, and/or IT operations, network engineering may be used in place of degree
    • Required Knowledge/Experience
      • 10+ years of proven, hands-on network engineering experience
      • Adept at learning new technology and is able to quickly become an expert with the specific microwave/wireless tools and technologies utilized by EW
      • Broad certification preferred in Networking Systems
      • Demonstrable mastery of networking standards and protocols
      • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
      • Experience leading a technical team, yet with a business-minded approach
      • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an eagerness to provide outstanding customer service to internal and external clients
    • Preferred Knowledge/Experience:
      • Advanced degree or continued education in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related subject
      • Experience with wireless equipment such as point to point radios (i.e. fixed wireless, microwave)
      • Experience managing large scale network construction or installation projects
      • Experience working with SLAs and uptime requirements
      • Experience working with failure analysis using data to identify trends in equipment and infrastructure points of failure
      • Experience in network design, deployment, and operations with high performance networks
      • Network Security management, System Security, and Contingency experience
      • Experience with OpenNet and ClassNet
      • Experience with network perimeter security to include firewalls, switches, routers, caching servers, antispyware/antimalware/antivirus, Simple Mail Protocol (SMTP), email antivirus/SPAM filtering and web filtering

    Other Responsibilities

    • Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of the department/contract
    • Perform other duties as assigned by Program Manager IV
